Mindful Movement Through the Holidays: A Virtual Workshop with Caitlin Gill, CPT
The holiday season can bring joy, connection, and celebration—but for those navigating eating disorder recovery, it can also bring added pressure around food, body image, exercise, and changing routines.
This holiday season, Dallas Nutritional Counseling is excited to offer Mindful Movement Through the Holidays, a virtual workshop led by Caitlin Gill, CPT, designed to help you explore a more flexible, compassionate, and recovery-supportive relationship with movement.
Monday, November 23 at 6:00 PM CST
Virtual via Zoom
Investment: $85
What does mindful movement mean?
Mindful—or intuitive—movement is about reconnecting with your body's needs, preferences, energy, and capabilities rather than following rigid exercise rules.
It can mean choosing movement because it feels enjoyable rather than obligatory. It can mean recognizing when your body needs rest, giving yourself permission to modify or stop an activity, and remembering that movement doesn't have to look like a structured workout.
During the holidays, practicing this flexibility can become especially challenging.
Changes in routine, travel, family gatherings, holiday meals, conversations about diets or New Year's resolutions, body comments, missed workouts, and pressure to "make up for" eating can all bring up difficult thoughts and feelings around movement.
What we'll explore together
During this interactive workshop, Caitlin will help participants identify some of the thoughts and situations that can make movement feel stressful or compulsive during the holiday season.
We'll explore how to recognize eating-disorder-driven thoughts around exercise and begin replacing them with more recovery-oriented perspectives—for example, moving from "I can't take a day off" toward recognizing that rest is part of caring for yourself, or from feeling that food creates an obligation to exercise toward understanding that you don't need to compensate for eating.
You'll also explore:
What intuitive movement can look like in recovery
Common holiday triggers related to food, body image, exercise, family, and changing routines
Strategies for navigating exercise-related guilt and rigid movement expectations
Different forms of mindful movement—including gentle stretching, walking, dancing, gardening, recreational activities, everyday movement, and intentional rest
Your own values around movement, such as flexibility, joy, self-compassion, trust, balance, and connection
How to create a personal Holiday Recovery Plan for moments when movement or exercise thoughts become challenging
A supportive, judgment-free space
This workshop isn't about creating the "perfect" holiday exercise routine.
It's about building greater awareness, flexibility, and self-compassion around movement while supporting your eating disorder recovery.
Cameras are optional, and participants are welcome to step away or take breaks at any point. There will be no calorie, weight, or body comparison during the workshop.
One of the ideas we'll return to throughout the workshop is that you are allowed to rest. You are allowed to enjoy holiday food. You are allowed to change your plans. And your recovery matters more than maintaining an exercise routine.
Can't attend live?
The workshop will be recorded and sent to all registrants, so you're welcome to register even if you can't join us live.
