One of our dietitians, Megan Good, was recently featured on Connections Chat, a podcast connecting industry leaders and professionals in various areas of the workforce to learn about and address the mental health needs they see in their areas of work, and also to educate the general public about mental health and resources available to them. The podcast’s goal is to engage, educate, identify, and discuss mental health and the gaps in services and knowledge relating to the mental health field.
During this episode Megan and Lauren discuss Megan’s introduction to the nutrition field and how she constantly saw disordered eating behaviors, chronic dieting, and undiagnosed eating disorders among her clients in general practice. Through the help of a colleague, Megan was introduced to Intuitive Eating and began educating herself on the negative effects of dieting. Lauren and Megan discuss what intuitive eating looks like and the work Megan does with clients.

Eating disorders impact the entire family system, and while so much of the treatment process is focused on the client, the caregivers tend to struggle at home with minimal support. Join Dallas Nutritional Counseling for a two-hour parent workshop, where we will bridge the gap between what the client needs and what the family needs. In this workshop you will gain a deeper understanding of the vital role you play in the recovery process, connect with other families going through the recovery process, and feel more confident in supporting your loved one. We will also be joined by Hila Eyal whose daughter struggled with an eating disorder and now is in recovery. Hila will share their family story of how they navigated the recovery process at the beginning, in the middle, and now ongoing.
